چکیده

This work concerns the activities of European project BLAZE that aims to integrate a pilot-scale gasifier unit with Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC). The objective is identify optimal operating conditions for and hot gas cleaning conditioning produce H2-rich syngas contaminants levels within limits safe operation SOFC (750 mg/Nm3 75 toluene naphthalene, respectively). Experimental tests were carried out on bench-scale gasification plant catalytic filter candle placed in freeboard, study influence temperature (1032 up 1137 K), bed materials (olivine or olivine/dolomite 80/20%), nickel-based catalyst. ceramic filled catalyst mixture olivine dolomite gave best results terms composition yield, but tar content was still higher than SOFC. To increase residence time new metallic tested. candle, almost same external volume, allowed doubling amount used. Under these conditions, naphthalene reduced below 150 50 mg/Nm3, respectively.

Steam-air fluidized bed gasification of distillers grains: Effects of steam to biomass ratio, equivalence ratio and gasification temperature.

In this study, thermochemical biomass gasification was performed on a bench-scale fluidized-bed gasifier with steam and air as fluidizing and oxidizing agents. Distillers grains, a non-fermentable byproduct of ethanol production, were used as the biomass feedstock for the gasification. The goal was to investigate the effects of furnace temperature, steam to biomass ratio and equivalence ratio o...

Catalytic Steam Reforming of Toluene as a Model Compound of Biomass Gasification Tar Using Ni-CeO2/SBA-15 Catalysts

Nickel supported on SBA-15 doped with CeO2 catalysts (Ni-CeO2/SBA-15) was prepared, and used for steam reforming of toluene which was selected as a model compound of biomass gasification tar. A fixed-bed lab-scale set was designed and employed to evaluate the catalytic performances of the Ni-CeO2/SBA-15 catalysts. Experiments were performed to reveal the effects of several factors on the toluen...

Removal and Conversion of Tar in Syngas from Woody Biomass Gasification for Power Utilization Using Catalytic Hydrocracking

Biomass gasification has yet to obtain industrial acceptance. The high residual tar concentrations in syngas prevent any ambitious utilization. In this paper a novel gas purification technology based on catalytic hydrocracking is introduced, whereby most of the tarry components can be converted and removed. Pilot scale experiments were carried out with an updraft gasifier. The hydrocracking cat...

Agglomeration and Fragmentation Phenomena of Bed Materials and Fuel Particles During Gasification of Coal-Biomass Pellets

The paper reports on a current research on fluidised bed gasification of biomass and coals. The focus is on the bed material agglomeration and fragmentation phenomena that are well known to affect the reliability and the efficiency of fluidized bed combustion processes. Preliminary results of dedicated tests at high temperature are reported and discussed in the paper. On the whole, agglomeratio...
